PDP Wins All Local Government Elections In Ondo

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won all the chairmanship seats in the local government elections in Ondo State.

This is just as the All Progressive Congress (APC), failed to stop the election as the Federal High Court sitting in Akure struck out cases, instituted by the APC, for lack of jurisdiction and abuse of court process.

The poll, which witnessed a poor turnout of voters, also saw the ruling party winning 202 of the 203 councillorship seats, leaving one for ACPN.

During the announcement of the results on Sunday, the Chairman of the Ondo Independent Electoral Commission, Olugbenga Ige, refused to name the total number of registered voters and those accredited for the election.

However, Olugbenga said 14 political parties participated in the local government elections, adding that initially it was 15, but PPA later announced its withdrawal, citing its inability to field candidates for the election.
